Linda Lovelace Biography
'Linda
Lovelace, the famous pornstar, was born Linda Susan Boreman on the 10th
January in 1949.
In the late 1960s, she began a relationship with Chuck Traynor. He became her manager, pimp, and husband. Before achieving fame, Boreman starred in a number of hardcore 'stag' short features, including a bestiality film in 1969 called Dog Fucker or Dogarama. She later denied doing this, only to have several of the 8 mm 'loops' become available to prove otherwise. Linda maintained she had been forced to perform at gunpoint.
In 1972, Boreman starred in Deep Throat, perhaps the most financially successful pornographic movie in history. Boreman maintained that she received no money for appearing in Deep Throat, and that the $1,250 for her appearance was taken by Traynor. In Deep Throat all her pubic hair was shaved off and she engaged in anal sex - neither was common in pornographic films of the early 1970s. The film became a runaway hit, playing to sell-out crowds in 'respectable' cinemas; it is still considered the adult film of all time.
With
her newfound celebrity, Linda divorced Traynor, but was unable to sustain
a movie career. In January 1974, Boreman was arrested for possession of
cocaine and amphetamines. Also that year, Boreman published two pro-pornography
biographies. After the R-rated Deep Throat Part II (1974) and the
softcore Linda Lovelace for President (1975) proved box-office
disasters, she faded from sight.
In 1980, she re-emerged as the author of Ordeal, her controversial autobiography. She fell in with the radical feminist movement, testifying before the Meese Commission on the dangers of pornography.
In 1986, Boreman published Out of Bondage, another memoir focusing on her life after 1974. She testified before the 1986 Attorney General's Commission on Pornography in New York City, stating that “When you see the movie Deep Throat, you are watching me being raped. It is a crime that movie is still showing; there was a gun to my head the entire time.”
Linda was involved in bad car accident on 3th April in 2002 in Denver, Colorado that left her with massive trauma and internal injuries and left her on life support. She was taken off life support by on her family on 22th April, 2002 and died shortly after. Her ex-husband Larry Marchiano and two adult children were at the hospital when she died.
Despite the fact that Deep Throat was probably the most profitable pornographic film ever made, Lovelace received no royalties or residuals and died poor. The film is said to have cost $25,000 to make and to have brought in an estimated $600 million worldwide.'

the essay: 'Linda Lovelace's autobiography Ordeal (1980), was held
up by anti-pornography groups as a guide to the evils of the sex industry.
The groups regularly quoted from the book, in debates, protest flyers, and
academic texts, to show how her life was threatened to ensure her cooperation
in Deep Throat.
Katherine MacKinnon, Andrea Dworkin, and Diana Russell in particular used Linda's testimony to suggest that all women in porn could expect to be forced into prostitution or raped at gunpoint. This meant we did not get to hear about the women doing sex work who had experiences that were positive, or even mundane. All porn was bad, and here was Linda to prove it.
Delighted by the fame of its new supporter, the anti-pornography lobby conveniently overlooked the fact that Linda's testimony was one of a battered wife, not a critique of the sex industry. Linda was encouraged to campaign against porn, but most of her problems were to do with an abusive partner. It is worth noting that while the abuse Linda suffered was horrific, in Ordeal she notes that the only time she was treated respectfully and professionally was when she was making Deep Throat. It was outside of this setting that her then husband abused and harmed her.'
