Introduction / Summary (2012): Hello and welcome to our Sexuality pages. The video provides a good introduction which we think you will enjoy!
While this is not a pornographic site, it is provocative - founded upon what people search on the Internet (which is very interesting!). We then relate this to our biological and cultural evolution. We have also just added a Sex Questions and Answers section - so ask a question, we try to reply within 48 hours.

Sex is obviously important to people - and if you want to improve your sexual relationships then knowing the truth about our human evolution is the best foundation. By opening our minds to a greater diversity of behaviors, this knowledge will help you creatively cultivate healthy pleasurable moral attitudes and sexy smutty relationships (free from religious guilt & cultural myths).

Support an open honest discussion on the truth of our sexual evolution and behaviour. If you support sex positive, moral, informed sexual behaviour please share this knowledge. (These pages have a diverse collection of fascinating information relating to our human sexual evolution so people will appreciate it).

About this Philosophy Website on Truth and Reality: We are listed as one of the top Philosophy Websites on the Internet with around 600,000 page views each week. The central thesis of philosophy is that we must know the truth to act wisely and truth is founded on a correct understanding of physical reality.
Clearly people have a strong sexual instinct due to our evolution and survival as a species. However, our planet faces many serious environmental problems, thus our survival now depends on a true understanding of our place in nature, as a way of better protecting life on earth. Truth and reality are beautiful subjects which are profoundly important to our future survival - they are the source of wisdom, the foundation for everything you see and experience in the universe!

Male Physiology - Anatomy of the Penis & Erections

From the website: 'The penis is composed of two functional compartments: the paired corpora cavernosa and the corpus spongiosum. Under the microscope, the tissue of the corpora cavernosa consists of bundles of smooth muscle fibers intertwined in a collagenous extracellular matrix. Interspersed within this tissue is a complex network of endothelial cell-lined sinuses, arteries and nerve terminals.

Diagram of the Human Penis, Anatomy and Mechanism of Erections

Figure 1. Anatomy and mechanism of penile erection. The cavernous nerves (autonomic), which travel postarterolaterally to the prostate, enter the corpora cavernosa and corpus spongiosum to regulate penile blood flow during erection and detumescence. The dorsal nerves (somatic), which are branches of the pudendal nerves, are primarily responsible for penile sensation. The mechanisms of erection and flaccidity are shown in the upper and lower insets, respectively. During erection, relaxation of the trabecular smooth muscle and vasodilatation of the arterioles results in a severalfold increase in blood flow, which expands the sinusoidal spaces to lengthen and enlarge the penis. The expansion of the sinusoids compresses the subtunical venular plexus against the tunica albuginea. In addition, stretching of the tunica compresses the emissary veins, thus reducing the outflow of blood to a minimum. In the flaccid state, inflow through the constricted and tortuous helicine arteries is minimal, and there is free outflow via the subtunical venular plexus. [Reproduced from T. F. Evolution, Human Reproduction & Fertilization: Sperm Competition & the Penis

A very interesting essay from the journal of Evolutionary Psychology on sperm competition and its role in shaping the human penis, (size, length, width, forceful ejaculation), evolutionary strategies for successful fertilization i.e. semen displacement and coagulation. On sexual intercourse and evolutionary benefits of deep penis thrusting, function of the foreskin and effects of circumcision, premature ejaculation, female reproductive strategies i.e. copulation with multiple partners, human sexual behaviour and wife rape (males having sex with their partner if suspecting them of infidelity).

Analyse any human emotion, no matter how far it may be removed from the sphere of sex, and you are sure to discover somewhere the primal impulse, to which life owes its perpetuation.Analyse any human emotion, no matter how far it may be removed from the sphere of sex, and you are sure to discover somewhere the primal impulse, to which life owes its perpetuation. ... The primitive stages can always be re-established; the primitive mind is, in the fullest meaning of the word, imperishable. ... Mans most disagreeable habits and idiosyncrasies, his deceit, his cowardice, his lack of reverence, are engendered by his incomplete adjustment to a complicated civilisation. It is the result of the conflict between our instincts and our culture. (Sigmund Freud)
