The fact is that sex offers many positive health benefits for pregnant couples.
e.g. bonding, relaxation, escapism, release of positive hormones, boosting
your immune system, good exercise etc.
I think a study of couples who had a lot of sex during pregnancy and couples
who did not - would be fascinating. By having sex with the same man, the
female body is recognising that hey, this guy is sticking around. What effect
does this have on the baby? father / baby bonding? father / mother bonding?
the absorption of semen in the vagina? There are so many intricacies of
human sexuality we are yet to discover, yet it is interesting to think about
these subtle things.

For example, a woman should avoid lying flat on her back after the fourth month of pregnancy, because the weight of the growing uterus puts pressure on major blood vessels. Fortunately, there are alternatives to the traditional missionary position, such as lying sideways or having the woman on top.
