Evolution, youth and beauty will be further explored on this webpage. Other ideas I am interested in - the sexualisation of the advertising / beauty industry, the effects of the mass media upon young girls and women, the average age of models etc. I would like to include pictures and biographies of teen models who I find attractive and good role models.
In our evolutionary past we predominately lived in small tribes. Women would compete with other women within the tribe. When you juxtapose this situation with the present day global network - women now have a much bigger pond to swim in. We are exposed to many more beautiful women and feel insufficient, not pretty enough etc. It is this fear and guilt that the beauty industry thrives on.
As a woman, of course I understand the importance of appearance and the societal pressures to appear 'well groomed'. I enjoy wearing nice clothes and getting dressed up. However this is just one aspect of being a woman. I am asking women to spend just as much time on cultivating their minds, as they do their appearance (to philosophy, science and the arts). This is an important principle of this website - to cultivate a authentic and creative sexuality based upon true knowledge.
